Although laparoscopic cholecystectomy is one of the most frequently performed operations in general surgery, its complications may be clinically serious. Management may range from minimally invasive interventional procedures to complex surgical strate-gies, including liver transplantation in selected cases. Correct management of these complications requires careful exclusion of an overlooked preoperative malignancy. In this case report, we present the clinical course of a patient with postcholecystectomy bili-ary complications accompanied by marked elevation of carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9).
